About the position
Responsibilities
- Client Relationship Management:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, financial institutions, and investors.
- Understand clients' financing requirements and provide strategic advice on debt capital raising options.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the debt raising process, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
- Debt Structuring and Origination:
- Develop innovative debt financing structures aligned with clients' financial goals and market conditions.
- Originate, structure, and negotiate debt transactions, including syndicated loans, bond issuances, and other debt instruments.
- Conduct thorough financial analysis and due diligence to assess creditworthiness and mitigate risks associated with debt transactions.
- Deal Execution and Documentation:
- Lead the execution of debt transactions from initiation to closing, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Prepare detailed financing proposals, term sheets, and offering memoranda in collaboration with legal and compliance teams.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies throughout the deal execution process.
- Market Research and Business Development:
- Stay abreast of market trends, industry dynamics, and regulatory changes affecting debt capital markets in South Africa.
- Identify new business opportunities and contribute to the expansion of the debt capital-raising business.
- Represent the bank in industry forums, conferences, and client meetings to enhance the bank's visibility and reputation.
Requirements:
- Honours Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or related field. MBA or CFA certification is a plus.
- Proven experience in debt capital markets, investment banking, or corporate finance, with a focus on debt origination and structuring.
- Strong understanding of financial markets, debt instruments, and regulatory frameworks in South Africa.
- Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in financial modelling and valuation techniques.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining client relationships, with a results-oriented approach.
